  • Scientists are developing polymers and plastics to use in bone and cartilage repair.
    PolyNovo set up with medical polymer licence

    PolyNovo was established to continue the development and commercialisation of our medical polymer technology for bone and cartilage repair and replacement.

  • FSA, through work undertaken at its Werribee site, has been working on deriving powdered CS from base shark cartilage material through a water-based process that does not require use of toxic and dangerous solvents.
    Australian SME licenses technology for arthritis treatment

    New Vision Biotechnology was granted a worldwide licence for CSIRO's patented process for refining the shark cartilage derived, chondroitin sulphate, a popular alternative arthritis medicine.

    The licensing of a proven ozone-safe technology provides an example of CSIRO’s flexible approach to technology transfer and commercialisation.
